About Us
Having previously worked for a well known high street wine merchant, famous for colourful window displays, for ten years and then a highly respected independent wine merchant in Hertfordshire for four years I decided to take the plunge and set up on my own.
The result was Rannoch Scott Wines, established in 2007. Operating from a converted, well insulated, barn in rural Suffolk well away from the hustle and bustle of the high street I have managed to build up a thriving business based on wholesale, mail-order, internet and private customers.
Many of my competitors claim to travel the world in search of small parcels of interesting wines from small producers. However, I source the same wines from UK based agencies that represent small, medium and large producers from all around the world! The benefit of this to the customer is that I select the wines I list from the many tastings that I attend in London and do not need to pass on the cost of international travel.
My aim is to always offer the best wines at the best possible prices. To achieve this I have kept my overheads down to a minimum by:
- Operating from a converted farm building with a very low rateable value and rent.
- Doing everything myself from tasting and selecting the wines, sales, van driver, accounts, tea boy and general dogsbody (you get the idea!)
- I am constantly looking to get the best deals from my suppliers and passing these savings on to my customers.
- I only stock wines that I would be happy to drink myself.
