Austria

Austria is a small but highly regarded wine-producing country, best known for elegant, fresh and distinctive white wines. Its vineyards are concentrated mainly in the east, where a continental climate, varied soils and the influence of the Danube create ideal conditions for high-quality viticulture.

Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s signature grape, producing wines ranging from crisp and mineral to rich and complex, while Riesling is also highly prized. Important regions include Wachau, Kamptal, Kremstal, Burgenland and Weinviertel. Austria also produces increasingly acclaimed red wines, particularly from Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. The industry combines strong regional traditions with modern, quality-focused winemaking and a notable commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture.
