Shiraz/Syrah
Shiraz is a bold and expressive red grape variety known for producing rich, full-bodied wines with generous fruit flavours and spice. Known as Syrah in France and many other regions, Shiraz is particularly associated with Australia, where it has become one of the country’s signature varieties.
Typical flavours include blackberry, plum and blueberry, complemented by notes of black pepper, spice and dark chocolate, with richer styles often developing smoky or savoury characteristics. Its full body and supple tannins make Shiraz an excellent match for grilled meats, barbecued dishes, rich stews and mature cheeses.
