Merlot
Merlot is a popular red grape variety prized for its softness, richness and approachable character. Originally from Bordeaux in France, it is now grown in many of the world’s leading wine regions and plays a central role in classic Bordeaux blends.
Typically medium to full-bodied, Merlot displays generous flavours of ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry, often accompanied by subtle notes of chocolate, spice and vanilla. Its smooth tannins and rounded texture make it a versatile food wine, pairing particularly well with red meats, roast poultry, pasta dishes and mature cheeses.
