Alpha Zeta Valpolicella Ripasso R 2022 Description

On the nose, this Valpolicella Ripasso reveals an inviting bouquet of dark cherry and plum with earthy undertones of dried herbs and forest floor. As it breathes, subtle notes of fig preserve and tobacco leaf emerge, hinting at the wine's complexity.

The palate is where this wine truly shines. Initial impressions deliver ripe morello cherry and damson plum, followed by a velvety mid-palate with well-integrated tannins that provide structure without heaviness. Secondary flavours develop beautifully - leather, cocoa, and a whisper of vanilla oak create layers that evolve with each sip. The finish is elegant and persistent, with lingering cherry stone, a gentle spice, and a touch of mineral minerality that leaves a refined aftertaste.

The wine's structure makes it suitable for cellaring, developing further complexity over the next 3-5 years.

This wine's balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity makes it remarkably food-friendly. Serve at 16-18°C to fully appreciate its complexity. It pairs exceptionally well with rich pasta dishes, aged cheeses, slow-cooked meats, and game.
