Lebanon has one of the world’s oldest winemaking traditions, with viticulture dating back thousands of years to the ancient Phoenicians. Today, the country’s vineyards are concentrated largely in the Bekaa Valley and Mount Lebanon, where high elevations, sunny Mediterranean conditions and varied soils provide favourable conditions for quality wine production.

Lebanese producers are particularly known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault and indigenous and Mediterranean varieties. The industry combines historic traditions with modern winemaking techniques, and Lebanese wines have developed a strong international reputation for their distinctive character, complexity and sense of place. Despite significant economic and political challenges, Lebanon’s winemakers continue to demonstrate resilience and a commitment to preserving and developing the country’s wine heritage.
