Abruzzo

Abruzzo, on Italy’s central Adriatic coast, is a significant wine-producing region known for its mountainous landscape, sunny Mediterranean climate and varied soils. The region’s vineyards lie between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, with altitude and maritime influences helping to create wines with freshness, balance and character.

Montepulciano is Abruzzo’s flagship red grape, producing the region’s celebrated Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wines, while Trebbiano Abruzzese and Pecorino are increasingly recognised for distinctive white wines. Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, a vibrant rosé made from Montepulciano, is another regional speciality. Combining traditional grape varieties with modern winemaking and growing investment in sustainable viticulture, Abruzzo continues to offer wines that combine quality, regional identity and excellent value.
