Bekaa Valley

The Bekaa Valley is the heart of Lebanon’s modern wine industry and one of the country’s most historic wine-growing areas. Situated at high elevation between the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges, the valley benefits from a dry Mediterranean climate, abundant sunshine, cool nights and varied limestone and clay soils.

Lebanese producers cultivate both international and traditional varieties, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan particularly important. The region is home to many of Lebanon’s leading wineries and is renowned for producing rich, complex and age-worthy wines. Despite challenging economic and political conditions, the Bekaa Valley’s producers continue to combine centuries-old winemaking traditions with modern techniques, helping Lebanese wine maintain a distinctive and growing international reputation.
