Lombardy

Lombardy, in northern Italy, is a diverse and increasingly respected wine region stretching from the Alps to the Po Valley. Its varied landscapes, climates and soils support a wide range of wine styles, from elegant sparkling wines to distinctive still reds and whites.

The region is best known internationally for Franciacorta, one of Italy’s leading traditional-method sparkling wines, made primarily from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Other important areas include Valtellina, where Nebbiolo - known locally as Chiavennasca - produces elegant, structured mountain wines, and Oltrepò Pavese, renowned for Pinot Noir and sparkling wines. Lombardy combines strong regional traditions with modern winemaking and a growing emphasis on sustainable viticulture, helping to enhance its reputation for quality and individuality.
