Marche
Marche is a distinctive and increasingly respected wine region on Italy’s central Adriatic coast, known for its rolling hills, varied soils and predominantly maritime climate. Its vineyards benefit from cooling influences from both the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains, helping producers create wines with freshness, balance and strong regional character.
Verdicchio is the region’s signature grape, producing vibrant, mineral-driven white wines particularly in the appellations of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica. Marche also produces notable reds from Montepulciano and Sangiovese, alongside distinctive wines from native varieties such as Lacrima. Combining traditional winemaking with modern techniques and growing interest in sustainable viticulture, Marche is building an increasingly strong reputation for high-quality, characterful wines.
