Priorat
Priorat is one of Spain’s most prestigious and distinctive wine regions, located in the rugged hills of Catalonia. Its steep, terraced vineyards, low-yielding vines and challenging Mediterranean climate contribute to wines of remarkable concentration, complexity and character. The region is particularly famous for its unique slate-rich soils, known locally as llicorella.
Garnacha and Cariñena are the traditional foundations of Priorat’s red wines, often complemented by international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Priorat’s producers combine traditional, low-yield viticulture with meticulous modern winemaking, creating powerful yet increasingly refined wines with excellent ageing potential. Its commitment to expressing individual vineyards and terroir has established Priorat as one of Spain’s leading sources of premium wine.
