Rheingau

The Rheingau is one of Germany’s most prestigious wine regions, located along a short, sheltered stretch of the Rhine west of Frankfurt. Its distinctive east-west river course provides ideal south-facing vineyard sites, while the Taunus Mountains offer protection from cold weather. The combination of sunshine, moderate temperatures and varied soils produces wines of elegance, freshness and remarkable longevity.

Riesling dominates the region and is renowned for its precision, aromatic intensity and ability to express individual vineyard sites, from dry, mineral styles to richly concentrated sweet wines. Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is also increasingly important, particularly in the warmer western vineyards. The Rheingau’s historic estates and strong culture of quality continue to underpin its international reputation, complemented by growing interest in sustainable and organic viticulture.
