Rhône Valley

The Rhône Valley is one of France’s most important and celebrated wine regions, following the Rhône River from the northern vineyards around Lyon to the Mediterranean coast. Its contrasting northern and southern climates, diverse soils and varied landscapes produce a broad spectrum of distinctive wine styles.

In the Northern Rhône, Syrah is the dominant red variety, producing renowned wines from appellations such as Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie and Cornas, while Viognier is particularly associated with the region’s aromatic whites. The Southern Rhône is best known for blends led by Grenache, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre, with Châteauneuf-du-Pape among its most famous appellations. Combining centuries of tradition with modern techniques and growing interest in sustainable viticulture, the Rhône remains a benchmark for expressive, terroir-driven French wines.
