Suffolk

Suffolk is an emerging English wine region, benefiting from a relatively dry climate, long summer daylight hours and well-drained soils that can support quality viticulture. The county’s gentle landscape and proximity to the North Sea create conditions particularly suited to cool-climate grape varieties.

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus are among the key varieties grown, alongside other early-ripening grapes suited to England’s climate. Suffolk producers are increasingly focused on both sparkling and still wines, with a growing emphasis on quality, sustainability and site-specific character. While smaller than the established vineyards of Sussex and Kent, Suffolk’s wine industry is developing rapidly and adding to the diversity and reputation of English wine.
