Western Cape

The Western Cape is the heart of South Africa’s wine industry and one of the country’s most important wine-producing regions. Its varied landscape, Mediterranean climate, mountain ranges and proximity to the Atlantic and Indian Oceans create a remarkable diversity of vineyard conditions and wine styles.

The region is particularly known for Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage and Syrah, alongside increasingly acclaimed Chardonnay and Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines. Major wine areas include Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek, Constantia, Swartland and Hemel-en-Aarde. Combining centuries of winemaking heritage with modern innovation, the Western Cape is increasingly recognised for distinctive, high-quality wines and a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and biodiversity.
