Cave de Turckheim Grand Cru Brand Riesling 2018 Description
This 2018 vintage has developed beautifully, revealing the complexity that defines mature Alsace Riesling. The initial elegance has deepened into layered sophistication - the pear and citrus now interwoven with honeyed notes and subtle floral undertones. The petrol character, characteristic of aged Riesling, has become more pronounced and refined, complemented by toasty minerality that speaks to the wine's evolution in bottle.
On the palate, the richness has intensified with time. Expect a fuller body than in youth, with the saline and smoky elements now more integrated and pronounced. The fruit has taken on a slightly dried quality - white peach and apricot leather - while maintaining freshness.
The steely finish remains crisp and focused, with a lingering savoury complexity that rewards contemplation. This is a wine at an excellent drinking window, showing the balance between youthful vibrancy and mature depth that makes aged Riesling so compelling.
Classically paired with seafood or, in the true spirit of Alsace, with rich pork and cheese dishes such as Choucroute or Tarte Flambe, otherwise known as Flammkche.
