Villa Wolf Forster Pechstein Riesling 2017 Description
Pechstein lies on the gentle east-facing slope that extends from behind the village of Forst up toward the Haardt Mountains. The name refers to the preponderance of black basalt stones in the soil, which give the wines a strong mineral backbone.
The wine presents itself with wonderful mineral aromas, intense fruit, high density, light notes of ripe fruit and a long finish. This 2017 vintage demonstrates excellent ageing potential, with the structure and acidity to develop beautifully over the next 10-15 years. The mineral-driven profile will evolve gracefully in bottle, allowing secondary flavours to emerge while maintaining the wine's characteristic elegance and complexity.
Cellaring this Riesling will reward patient collectors with increasing depth and refinement.
Perfect with seared scallops with a beurre blanc sauce.
