Castilla y León

Castilla y León is one of Spain’s most important wine-producing regions, known for its high-altitude vineyards, continental climate and distinctive, characterful wines. Hot, dry summers and cold winters, combined with varied soils and significant differences between day and night temperatures, create favourable conditions for producing concentrated yet balanced grapes.

The region is particularly renowned for Tempranillo, known locally as Tinta del País or Tinto Fino, as well as Verdejo, Mencía and other indigenous varieties. Its leading wine areas include Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Toro, Bierzo and Cigales. Producers combine traditional methods with modern winemaking, while increasing emphasis on vineyard sites, sustainability and quality has strengthened Castilla y León’s reputation in international markets.
